Scheduled rides with auto-assign window

Scheduled rides with auto-assign window: landscape diagram

You are the BA for a ride-hailing platform with 1 million riders and 150 k drivers. The PM wants a "Scheduled Ride" feature so riders can book up to 24 hours ahead; the driver must accept within 5 minutes or the system auto-assigns another driver. "We need the rider to see a confirmed driver before the day starts," the PM said.

Your task
1. Create a business-rules table for eligibility, scheduling limits, driver-accept window, auto-assign fallback and cancellation penalties.
2. Design data-model changes: new tables/fields, PKs, FKs and needed indexes for scheduled trips.
3. Choose push-notification offers or driver-app polling for acceptance; justify trade-off on latency, battery impact and scalability.
